BroadRamp Canada

BroadRamp Canada Limited Partnership (BroadRamp Canada) is engaged in the sales, distribution and marketing of the patented technology CDS™ (Content Delivery System) and the recently launched MCDS™ (Managed Content Delivery System). This technology is the proprietary property of BroadRamp Inc., based in San Antonio, Texas, and BroadRamp Canada, based in Edmonton, Alberta, has the exclusive license for the Canadian market.

The BroadRamp technology is a catalyst for a new era - the ‘TV’ Internet – as the it solves the TV and video quality standard versus the cost to deliver platform problems faced by Telecommunication Companies (e.g. Telus), Cable Companies (e.g. Shaw) and Content Providers (e.g. CTV).

Billion dollar investments in capital infrastructure, such as broadband fiber to the home (FTTH), are driven by bandwidth constrained last mile copper, cable and wireless networks. The delivery of TV, Video-On-Demand, and Internet Protocol TV consumes bandwidth on networks at disproportionate rates to the “TV” Internet technology that BroadRamp can deliver.

“US firm Nemertes Research found that projected increases in Internet traffic are poised to eclipse the capacity of the Web's broadband access infrastructure – essentially the points where users "plug in" to the Internet via cable, phone or fiber optic lines –as early as 2010.” The MCDS™ technology of BroadRamp helps to solve this forthcoming problem, enabling consumers to watch a BroadRamp Hi-Definition video or TV over any connection, even at the local Wi-Fi coffee shop, at prices lower than the local cable provider at home. [NOTE: Watch use of TV and video terms]

Until now, applications such as streaming full screen, Hi-Def Movies, with no quality degradation have been limited to cable and telecommunication providers, most requiring over 10 Mb/s of bandwidth to deliver on their networks. The BroadRamp CDS™ compresses video over 90% so that Hi-Def, TV quality standard content can be delivered over DSL, cable, and wireless connections utilizing less than 1 Mb/s of capacity. This enables all forms of content to be delivered to all end-users (regardless of connection speed), along with a reduction in delivery costs, and all while maintaining the original quality of the content. The BroadRamp technology is DISRUPTIVE, as it will radically change the marketplace for content delivery.

BroadRamp focuses on four key value propositions against which it significantly exceeds the capabilities of its competitors:

  • Quality – current technologies suffer from poor quality, small screen sizes;
  • Security – streaming and lack of download plus embedded player
  • Speed – compression allows better speeds over existing infrastructure
  • Cost of Delivery – compression allows much lower bandwidth utilization
